CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – On April 1, 2025, at 8:38 p.m., Chattanooga Police
responded to a pedestrian struck in the 2200 block of East 17th Street.
Upon arrival, the officers found a 60-year-old man with life-threatening
injuries.

Chattanooga Fire and Hamilton County EMS responded to the scene.  EMS
transported him to a local hospital where he died.

CPD's Traffic Unit responded to conduct the investigation.

A kitchen fire damaged a Hixson home Tuesday night. At 9:05 PM on 4/1/25, Blue Shift companies were dispatched to a residential structure fire in the 2100 block of Crescent Club Drive. A second alarm was quickly called due to the possibility of entrapment. On arrival, firefighters saw smoke showing from the front of the house and found heavier smoke coming from the rear of the structure with light smoke pushing from the eaves. Crews made entry through the front door to conduct a search and attack the flames in the kitchen area. No one was found inside.

A Chattanooga family is safe after a fire at their home Tuesday afternoon. At 1:15 PM on 4/1/25, Blue Shift companies responded to the 1500 block of Lillian Lane off Wilcox Boulevard on a residential structure fire. The residents noticed smoke, saw fire in a front bedroom, called 911 and got outside. On arrival, firefighters saw flames coming out the front of the house. They launched an interior attack and had a quick knockdown. Crews also fought fire in the attic.

Great work by firefighters who successfully protected homes on Missionary Ridge Thursday night. It resulted in a large-scale response by the Chattanooga Fire Department and other agencies who assisted our crews. At 4:45 PM on 3/26/25, Green Shift companies responded to a brush fire at 16th Avenue and E 32nd Street in East Lake at the base of the ridge. As the fire started to climb the ridge and threaten nearby homes, a second division was established at the top of the ridge to combat the fire from all sides. Approximately 10-15 acres were burning.

NEW TRAINING TOWER GRAND OPENING: Realistic training environments are vital for keeping firefighters at the forefront of preparedness for the dangerous scenarios they face on the job. Now, firefighters in Chattanooga and across the area have access to a state-of-the-art training facility, ensuring they are ready to handle any situation they may encounter in the line of duty. On Wednesday (3/26/25), the Chattanooga Fire Department and Hamilton County Office of Emergency Management celebrated the grand opening of their new fire training tower off Amnicola Highway.

ROPE RESCUE: Two workers were rescued from TVA’s Pump Storage Facility on Raccoon Mountain Friday morning. At 11 AM on 3/21/25, Blue Shift companies responded to the intake structure. Crews were doing necessary maintenance when their man basket malfunctioned 150 feet down and wouldn’t come back up. Chattanooga Fire, TVA officials and Hamilton County EMS responded to assist with the rescue. Firefighters set up a rope system on the platform at the top of the structure. Crews hauled each worker up individually and by 1:30 PM, the rescue was over. There were no injuries.

Standstill traffic on Interstate 24 caused a young family to have to pull over and call 911 early Thursday morning (3/20/25). The family was headed to the hospital with the mother in labor, but the baby had other plans. Stuck in the traffic backup, they realized they weren’t going to make it to the hospital in time. Their baby was coming and they needed help so they called 911.

The Chattanooga Fire Department had the first surrender of an infant at our Safe Haven Baby Box at Fire Station 6 on Bonny Oaks Drive Tuesday night (3/18/25). The baby is alive and healthy. Due to the mother’s wishes, no other details will be released and no other statements will be made by the CFD or Safe Haven Baby Box. Chattanooga’s baby box became operational in November 2024.

 

Quick knockdown on Thursday night house fire: The call came out at 9:29 PM on 3/13/25 in the 600 block of Valley Bridge Road in Station 17’s district off Mountain Creek Road. On arrival, CFD personnel saw flames coming from the front of a home. The resident was standing outside after exiting safely. Firefighters made a fast attack on the fire and prevented it from spreading to the rest of the structure. Once the fire was under control, Green Shift crews extinguished remaining hot spots. The cause is under investigation. No injuries.
