At 6:36 AM on 3/3/25, the Chattanooga Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 2100 block of Elena Drive- a neighborhood located between Amnicola Highway and Riverside Drive. A neighbor called 911 when they spotted flames coming from the residence. Smoke was visible on CFD’s arrival and firefighters quickly initiated an interior attack on the fire and search of the structure. No one was found inside. By 7:24 AM, the fire was under control and crews were putting water on hot spots. The cause of the fire is under investigation. There were no injuries.

The Chattanooga Fire Department and Catoosa County Fire Department worked together for hours Friday to fight a house fire that spread into nearby woods at the Tennessee/Georgia line. At 2:30 PM on 2/28/25, Red Shift companies responded to the 600 block of Graysville Road and found a fully involved mobile home fire. Several acres of woods are burning behind the trailer and other homes. There are no injuries to report at this time. Engine 21, Squad 13, Ladder 13, Ladder 7, Squad 7, Battalion 1 and Battalion 2 are on the scene, along with Public Works and CPD.

Updated ordinance allows more flexibility, provides clarity for businesses, offers more support for public art.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Representatives from the Chattanooga Police
Department (CPD) and the City's Office of Community Safety & Gun Violence
Prevention were invited to present at the National Case Closed Project
(NCCP) Convening in Raleigh, North Carolina earlier this week. The Bureau
of Justice Assistance (BJA) along with RTI International extended the
invitation in recognition of Chattanooga's multifaceted approach to solving
violent crimes, which has a clearance rate 18% higher than the national
average.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. * –* The Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) arrested
18-year-old Gloire Mutabwa and a 17-year-old male in relation to a shooting
that occurred on January 13 in the 1800 block of Foust Street.

On January 13, 2025, at 3:56 p.m., Chattanooga Police responded to a person
shot call in the 1800 block of Foust Street.  When the officers arrived at
the scene, they found a 32-year-old woman with non-life-threatening
injuries.

Shooting - 6000 Block of East Brainerd Road

Chattanooga, Tenn. (March 25, 2025) - Today, the Kelly Administration
unveiled a new proposed tree ordinance aimed at preserving the city’s tree
canopy while ensuring responsible development. The ordinance is focused on
replacement, not restriction, offering flexible options for developers to
maintain Chattanooga’s urban forest.

EMERGENCY CLOSURE

Lightfoot Mill Road - CSX Railroad Grade Crossing

The CSX grade crossing in the 2400 block of Lightfoot Mill Road has been
closed for emergency railroad repairs. The closure is effective immediately
and is expected to last five days. Detours via Bonny Oaks Drive in both
directions.

The 3100 block of Amnicola Highway will see single lane closures with lane
shifts beginning Tuesday, March 25th through Monday, April 7th from 8:30 AM
until 4 PM daily for curb construction.
