A worker doing repairs to the Incline Railway following the December fire at the local landmark/attraction suffered a fall Wednesday afternoon, requiring a complicated rescue by the Chattanooga Fire Department. Just after 1:30 PM on 2/26/25, Red Shift companies responded to different points on the incline and learned that the worker was injured in the fall. Chattanooga firefighters, including rope technicians, lifted the patient vertically 60 feet using a rope system.

Shooting - 500 Block of Dodson Avenue

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – On February 26, 2025, at 10:02 p.m., Chattanooga
Police responded to a person shot call in the 500 block of Dodson Avenue.
When the officers arrived at the scene, they found a 43-year-old man with
non-life-threatening injuries.

Chattanooga Fire and Hamilton County EMS responded to the scene.  EMS
transported the man to a local hospital.

CPD Makes Arrest in Daycare Facility Incident

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Chattanooga Police Department arrested
30-year-old Tonya Liveley in relation to the daycare facility child abuse
investigation.

The Special Victims Unit Investigator presented the facts of the incident
to the Hamilton County Grand Jury. The Hamilton County Grand Jury indicted
Tonya Lively for one count of Felony Child Abuse.

Chattanooga, Tenn. (February 24, 2025) - Due to mechanical problems with
our trucks, recycling collection will be delayed in a small portion of St
Elmo. The streets affected are the smaller, narrow streets that are
serviced by rear-load recycle trucks. The recycling will be collected on
Tuesday, February 25th, 2025 with about 75 addresses impacted.

 

The Chattanooga Tree Commission and the City of Chattanooga’s Urban
Forestry Program (Department of Public Works) are observing Chattanooga’s
36th Arbor Day Celebration on March 01, 2025, at the Washington Hills
Community Center at 4628 Oakwood Dr. This year also marks the City’s 35th
year with Tree City USA status from the Arbor Day Foundation.

This is a volunteer tree planting event, planned with the assistance of the
City’s Department of Community Development and Department of Parks &
Outdoors, and Washington Hills Neighborhood Association.

The City of Chattanooga Department of Public Works in conjunction with our
contract crews has scheduled the following locations for resurfacing for
the week of Monday, February 24th through Friday, February 28th (weather
permitting):

Wilder Valley Ln from Wilder Rd to the Cul-de-sac

August Dr from Cloverdale Cir to Cloverdale Dr

City Council Passes $29.9 Million Budget Amendment to Invest in Key
Priorities, Shore Up Police and Fire Pension Fund

Chattanooga, Tenn. (February 18, 2025) - Today, Chattanooga City Council
gave unanimous final passage to the Kelly Administration’s $29.9 million
budget amendment, investing in key priorities like road paving and public
safety while transferring $18 million to the Police and Fire Pension Fund
to meet minimum recommended funding levels.
